Watch a new video in our monthly series — Magento News Digest — to stay abreast of October updates and eCommerce industry, overall.
You can learn what’s happened during the month in our new video. Just explore what’s waiting for you inside:
Critical Magento Security Hole
Security is the most important aspect of eCommerce, especially during the holiday season.
Adobe shared news about two critical flaws, six important-rated errors, and one moderate-severity vulnerability that have been recently identified in Magento Open Source and Magento Commerce. These vulnerabilities allow for arbitrary code execution and read or write access to the database. Thus, it’s recommended to install security patches before you hit the holiday season.
Magento Open Source 2.4.1 Release
Adobe also released an improved Magento Open Source version 2.4.1, which aims to improve the experience of both merchants and their customers. The updated version also provides higher performance, security and reliability of websites.
Patch Updates Schedule
Starting 2021, Magento Open Source 2.3 will only receive security updates through the Magento Open Source Quality Patches tool. Therefore, it’s recommended to upgrade to the latest Magento 2.4.x version to get quality updates and access to the latest innovations.
PHP 7.3 EOS
Since PHP 7.3 is reaching its end of support in December 2021, Adobe is preparing a new version of Magento Open Source with the support for PHP 7.4. This version will be released in May 2021. Because of possible incompatible changes, it’s recommended to upgrade to the latest 2.4.x release, which supports PHP 7.4 out of the box.
